"Originally from Bristol, artist Tim Rossiter has lived and painted in the Usk Valley for over 35 years. He works mainly in oils, using translucent glazes over a white ground, to keep both the painted surface and the colours as alive as possible.
Sources for his work include objects around the house, the landscape, especially where the markers of ancient cultures are still visible, music, poetry and myth. Despite having taught observational drawing and painting for years in an art college, his own painting mainly draws on his visual memory, rather than from direct observation, editing out superfluous detail- "For my work, the ideal image is the level of a dream; you dream door but not the detail of the handle, hinges, screws cracked paint, fielded panels and all the rest of it, it's just DOOR."
