Dai is inspired by all forms of light. Direct, reflected and even in its absence, shade and shadow. His aim with his paintings is to reveal both the beauty and delight experienced when enjoying a light-filled scene.
He wants the viewer to feel as if they could simply step into one of his paintings and get the sensation of being there.
Dai’s subject matter ranges from days out in his local area in the Upper Swansea Valley to the fabulous beaches of his native Wales, to beautiful, intimate moments which both reveal and express his love for music.
Dai David holds exhibitions regularly in the UK in private galleries and museums, as well as major London Art Fairs. Most notable amongst these are the 20/21 International Art Fair, the London Affordable Art Fair and the Chelsea Fine Art Show. Dai also shows his work in Greece and Galleria Rossocinabro, Rome.
His work has sold throughout the UK and can be found in private collections in New York, North Carolina, San Francisco, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, Australia and New Zealand.
Dai is also a trained opera singer and pianist. As a professional musician (known as David Vaughan-Lewis) he gives private tuition in piano, singing and music theory and has regularly held sell-out charity concerts at the nearby Craig Y Nos Castle, once home of the legendary Opera diva, Adelina Patti.
