Nick worked for many years as an architect before devoting more time to fulfilling his passion for art and in particular the three dimensional form.
We have three examples of his latest work using the lost wax process of casting in bronze from plaster models. The figures are stripped back to the most simple elemental form and demonstrate a range of patination techniques.
Figure 1 : Never not broken
This piece was inspired by the Indian goddess Akhilandeshvari. World conflict or personal grief can shake the foundations on which we have built our lives. Akhilandeshvari shows us that it is the light that shines through the cracks of our heartbreak that permits us to form with greater strength new patterns of being.
Figure 2: With open arms
Our frame of mind on any particular day influences the way we behave and affects out relationship with others around us. The enigmatic stance of this figure invites you to interpret and re-interpret the gesture according to your mood.
Figure 3: Dog
Little more than a two dimensional figure, here it is our own minds that will fill out the form according to our own experience.
Each piece is from a limited edition of ten.
