Hilary Bryanston is showing a series of paintings using transparent watercolour and gouache. They are called The Softness of Rain.
Hilary says "Watercolour is a very unforgiving medium. By this, I mean that it is very difficult and inadvisable to make any alterations whilst painting. Using it requires total concentration. So, I felt that it leant itself to this series of almost Zen-like images about The Rain.
As I live in South-West Wales between the Black Mountain and the sea - the occurence of rain is frequent. And since global warning, the rain has gradually become more extreme. So perhaps we have to learn how to love and embrace the rain in order to survive in this climate."
