As a set designer and architectural illustrator, most of Catherine's professional life focused predominantly around the controlled built environment, which was increasingly at odds with her long-term love of the outdoors and exploration of the landscape. She is now most comfortable with a camera in her hand and strives to capture moments that provoke an emotional response, by seeking out locations to create images of inspiring places; sometimes wide-open spaces, sometimes close details, typically capturing the presence of nature and sculptural quality of our environment in strongly defined landforms, changing weather and ambient light.
Catherine's photographs are printed directly onto Aluminium Dibond, giving each print a unique quality. Aluminium Dibond is a lightweight composite material, 3 mm thick and it has 3 layers; two aluminium layers sandwich a black core. This method of production creates a matte, reflection-free print using top-grade UV Fine Art inks. White and brighter parts of the images have a subtle lustre, giving the prints a quality almost like a painting. With the Aluminium Dibond backing, the prints combine high picture quality and perfect durability, being water and UV resistant and suitable for high humidity and sheltered outdoor areas.
