Angie Hughes is a textile artist from Ledbury in the beautiful county of Herefordshire. Her work is largely influenced by the natural world particularly plant forms.

Studying City & Guilds Embroidery in the 90's taught her to experiment with different materials and techniques and this would be the way that she would always start projects in future years. She has spent time honing her skills on the sewing machine, all of her pieces have machine embroidery somewhere.

Some of her brooches are inspired by patterns taken from one of Klimt’s paintings the famous Woman in Gold or ‘The Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer’. Angie uses a foil technique in her work - a very shimmery twinkly process that works well when making embroideries observing Klimt’s golden paintings. She also uses a shiny machine embroidery thread which adds to the luminous quality of the stitched surfaces.
