Before, during and after a long career in Nursing and Higher Education, I have frequently drawn, painted and photographed what I see, feel or imagine.
When studying on the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Swansea College of Art from 2009 – 2011, I was fortunate to receive tuition from the late Osi Rhys Osmond, whose wisdom and approach to artistic practice influenced me greatly.
I am fascinated by colour and colour interaction, natural forms and their potential for abstraction, and by the infinite variations seen every day in both natural and constructed environments.
Work has been exhibited at the Black Mountain Painters Group Exhibition, Chapel Gallery, Bromyard in 2018, and paintings selected for the Swansea Open Art Exhibition in 2021 and 2022.
Attending courses run by Niel Bally, and participating in the tutorial group encourages me, and enhances my learning and growth as a painter. The peer support and critique is vital in navigating the simultaneous feelings of excitement, discovery and challenge during the process.
