David has had a few incarnations in his journey through life all rather unconventional but always creative and always with a sketch book at hand.
Originally he graduated at Bristol in Fine Art. After graduating he decided to join a circus. For many years he toured extensively as The Great Goffee performing clown shows in circus, theatre and festivals throughout the UK and abroad with such shows as The History of The World, The Bharmi Llama of Hanki Panki, Madame Goffee La Belle, The Angel Gabriel and The Immaculate Contraption to name a few!
David has always been passionate about nature and landscape and from time to time has turned to landscape design, specialising in designing and creating labyrinths and mazes. i.e. The Greenman Millennium Maze for the Penpont Estate, Giant Vineyard Labyrinth for the Poole House Estate, Apple Mound Labyrinth at Court of Noke …
And then he discovered Fire! This became his canvas, creating huge blazing images in fire. Soon he was devising and directing larger and larger pyro dramas and community fire festivals at home and internationally from Eastern Europe to L.A. and Mexico.
For this show David says “Chapters close and new ones begin. So now my pencils and brushes have returned full time to dipping and wrestling in paint and paper. And so I offer you this collection of my recent oil pastels to view and I would hope enjoy as much as I did creating them.”
