Julia Wager was born in the New Forest and educated at La Retraite Salisbury. She went on to study at Salisbury College of Art and Cheltenham School of Art. Her lifelong interest in animals and wildlife is the focus for her work.
Julia's sculpture is concerned with the realistic representation of animals which are accurate to scale. They are sculpted using clay and other modelling mediums. The finished pieces are cast in bronze using the lost wax process. A range of treatments using alkaline and acidic salts are used on the surface of the finished bronze to produce the patinas that are as specific and individual as the sculpture itself.
