23rd March - 23rd April
This exhibition features artist Maggy Roberts and printmaker Lesley Lillywhite. Maggy Roberts likes to find colours that sing and dance together. She says of her landscapes that they take on a life of their own, emerging from the various layers of colour that they evoke emotionally. She is less concerned with the direct representation of a particular scene than with exploring her own emotional fantasty of colour.
Lesley Lillywhite started life as a graphic designer and then designer-illustrator before taking a degree in printmaking. She went on to obtain a bursary in woodblock printing in Japan and now combines all these skills in her work. Lesley is a director of The Swansea Print Workshop.
Knucklas based potter Tony Hall has joined the exhibition with a range of his hand thrown stoneware using Tenmoku, Shino and ash glazes. Trained in La Borne, France Tony developed his career at Whichford Pottery in Warwickshire, where he was the chief thrower, before establishing his own pottery studio in the Welsh Marches.
Sculptor Judy Boyt will be showing a remarkable horse head which will seem to float in mid air within our bay window. The intention of Judy's sculptures is to make you stop, stand and stare, to convey to you a feeling of life: of an animal just about to move off, or snort in the air, or relax and be calm - or just to be there and invite you to touch. Judy is also showing a couple of her paintings.
The exhibition will include some horse paintings by Lucilla Jones.
We still have Paul Harris's Mother Sister Daughter exhibition in our lower gallery - see here, as well as jewellery by Zoe Wright.
